Children’s auditions to be held for ‘Beauty and the Beast’
FOR RELEASE: Monday, August 24, 2009
Huntington, Ind.-Huntington University's Department of Theatre Arts will hold children's auditions on Tuesday, Sept. 8, for its upcoming production of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast." Auditions will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Merillat Centre for the Arts on Huntington University's campus. The department is seeking children, ages seven to 12, to participate in the ensemble and also is casting for two boys or a boy and a girl to double in the role of "Chip."
Children do not need to bring a prepared song. They will be taught a song from the show at the audition and then be asked to sing it back to the director.
Those children being considered for the role of "Chip" may be asked to attend a separate callback later in the week.
Weekly rehearsals will begin Monday, Sept. 28, and the performances will run Nov. 12-14 and 19-21. For more information, call Professor Jay Duffer at (260) 359-4257.
