Changed From the Inside Out
Each year, the Institute for Christian Thought and Practice sends ministry students who have just finished their junior year of college on a seven-month, full-time, full-semester college credit internship called PRIME. PRIME stands for “Practical Research and Immersion in Ministry Effectiveness.” Current students and alumni of our ministry degree programs agree: PRIME is life-changing.
I sat down with Hunter Grant and asked, “How did your perspective regarding ministry change through PRIME?” He responded,
“PRIME changed my perspective by showing me the weight of ministry. Being with students throughout the months reminded me of how serious this vocation truly is.”
During his internship, Hunter had the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Rhode Island. They had the chance to serve at a Methodist church that was joining the Global Methodist Church. The Lord blessed this church body with two buildings next to the church, where they helped with renovations. While they were there, the people they were helping spoke a different language, and despite the barrier, the students shared their testimonies with the people they were able to serve. God worked in students by giving them the strength to reconcile relationships with friends and family members.
When stepping into a leadership role, the Lord started to bring light to the lingering sin in Hunter’s life, leaving him convicted through conversations with students and messages that he was preparing for students. It led him to seek the Lord’s direction and to faithfully act on these convictions just like the students did on the mission trip.
If you are interested in seeing the Jesus transform lives, the Institute for Christian Thought and Practice offers the PRIME internship to students studying youth ministries, special needs ministry, children’s ministry, missions, or worship leadership.
