Certification Opportunities

Certified Personal Trainer (ACSM, NSCA, or NCSF)

This certification is offered from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and the National Council on Strength & Fitness(NCSF). It certifies students to work with both active and sedentary clients one-on-one in in helping the client become healthy and fit. This is an ideal certification for sophomore, freshman, and junior exercise science majors.

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Certified Strength Coach (NCSF-Strength Coach)

These certifications are offered from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the National Council on Strength & Fitness (NCSF). Both certifications prepare students for exercise testing and prescription of athletes. These certifications are ideal for senior exercise science majors.

Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP-C)

This certification from the American College of Sports Medicine certifies students to work with healthy individuals and those with medically controlled diseases. This certification is ideal for senior exercise science majors.

Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP)

This certification from the American College of Sports Medicine certifies students to work with apparently healthy individuals and those with cardiovascular, pulmonary, and metabolic disease. This certification is ideal for senior exercise science majors wanting to work in cardiac rehab.
