HU’s Peoria location receives city chamber award
Huntington University has received the City Manager’s Award from the Peoria Chamber of Commerce at its annual Anniversary & Awards Dinner. The City Manager’s Award recognizes a local business or organization for its positive impact on the community and is selected by Peoria’s City Manager Mr. Carl Swenson and his staff. The City Manager’s office is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the City of Peoria.
“It is a distinctive honor to receive this award especially in the early stages of Huntington Universities’ relationship with the City of Peoria. Mr. Swenson and his team have been a pleasure to work with and the future looks incredibly bright for both Huntington and the City of Peoria. We can’t wait to officially open the doors of the Arizona Center for Digital Media Arts next month and watch the wonderful things continue to happen. It is a fantastic partnership,” stated Jeff Berggren, director of Huntington University’s Arizona operations.
Each June the Chamber’s Anniversary & Awards Dinner celebrates the successes of the past year by honoring the best of Peoria and looks to the future, recognizing new leadership. The Peoria Chamber brings together businesses, nonprofits, and academic leaders throughout the community to celebrate the accomplishments of local businesses and the contributions they make to the local community and economy. This year marks the 97th annual awards celebration by the Peoria Chamber of Commerce.
Earlier this year, Huntington University received approval from the Arizona Board of Private Postsecondary Education to open the location in Peoria. The university has leased a 30,000 square foot building in the West Valley that will house bachelor’s degree programs in film production, broadcast-fusion media and graphic design. Huntington University is in the process of completing renovations to the property in anticipation of beginning its first classes August 29. A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony has been scheduled for August 2.
