HU Arizona Hosts Record Attendance for Summer Media Camp
The Huntington University Arizona summer digital media camp began on Monday, June 13, with a record number of creative campers in attendance. Thirty-six students — up from 21 last year — ages 14-18 will participate throughout the week with multiple animation, film, graphic design and TV projects each day.
“These campers get to interact with all our full-time DMA faculty, several of our current students and our stellar labs and studios,” said Jeff Berggren, director of Arizona operations. “Historically many of the campers have elected to take classes at HU Arizona in the fall because of the great experience they have during this week. We are looking forward to more of that this year!”
Parents are invited to a final showcase on Friday to view the projects the campers created during their camp experience.
Huntington University Arizona opened its doors in 2016, welcoming students seeking a degree in digital media arts. Since that time, students have created regionally and nationally awarded work, including ADDY awards, BEA Best of Fest awards, and Emmy Student Production Awards. The 30,000-square-foot building houses bachelor’s degree programs in animation, film production, broadcast media, and graphic design. The facility features film and TV studios, high-end computer classroom/labs, private editing suites, a state-of-the-art TV control room, a Foley pit, a host of EFP and cinema cameras, and lighting gear for student production work.
