HU to confer honorary Doctorate degree to Ms. Savage
Huntington University will confer an honorary doctorate degree to Ms. Kelly K. Savage of Grandville, Michigan, at its 119th Commencement on Saturday, May 13.
“Huntington celebrates the opportunity to recognize both of these outstanding alums with honorary doctorates for excellence in their respective fields, and outstanding commitment to the mission of our University,” said Huntington University President, Dr. Sherilyn Emberton.
Ms. Savage, who will receive a Doctor of Commercial Science degree, is the Chief Human Resources Officer with Amway, and is responsible for the company’s more than 21,000 employees worldwide. She graduated from Huntington College in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, and in 1985, received a Master’s of Business Administration degree from Colorado State University. Savage has served on Huntington University’s Board of Trustees for 14 years, including serving as Board Chair for five (2011-2015). In October of 2015, Savage was named board Chairman Emeritus. She is a member of Huntington University’s Merillat Society, 2017 Forester Fund Pacesetters Club and has established the Savage Family Endowed Scholarship.
The commencement ceremony will be held in the Merillat Complex’s fieldhouse beginning at 2:30 p.m. with approximately 279 students graduating. The day’s festivities will also include a breakfast for graduates and their parents as well as the President’s Luncheon. This year marks the first class of Huntington University’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program which will graduate 32 students. Huntington’s OTD program began in 2014.
