HUNTINGTON, Ind. The Huntington University Peer Award recipients for December are Cindy Geders, administrative secretary to the president, and Mary Zellers, costume shop supervisor.
The Peer Award, which began in 2003, promotes acknowledgment and recognition of the outstanding efforts of Huntington University faculty and staff members. Award winners are chosen and recognized each month by fellow peers.
Geders was recognized by Amy Johnson, mailing services coordinator, because of her kind words and gentle personality.
"Not only do her encouraging words show her kind spirit, but they also offer a great 'pick me up' especially when I'm having a difficult day," Johnson said. "Cindy is a very hardworking employee who will do whatever she can to make someone else's job easier."
Zellers was recognized by Justin Spitler, sound and lighting coordinator, because she goes the "extra mile" to help others.
"Mary does an excellent job in the costume shop. She is well respected and loved by the students and always has a smile to give," the recognition said. "She is an amazing 'Momma Zellers' for the (Merillat Centre for the Arts)."
