Air National Guard provides band clinicians for students

Huntington, Ind. "Huntington College welcomes Second Lieutenant Bryan Miller as the guest conductor for BandFest 2002. Commander Miller is currently the Commander and Conductor of the Air National Guard Band of the Midwest. Commander Miller has served as the Graduate Assistant Director of Bands while earning a Master's degree in Music Performance (trumpet) and Literature from Notre Dame University, South Bend, Ind. He has been invited to be a trumpet soloist all across the United Sates and Europe and has been guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator for a number of events and organizations.
Presently, he is the director of instrumental Ensembles for the Leyden High Schools and Trumpet Instructor for undergraduate and graduate music majors at VanderCook Musical College. On three separate occasions, Commander Miller has been nominated for the prestigious Chicagoland Outstanding Music Educator Award.
Additional Air National Guard Band clinicians will include Laura Casteel (flute), Arthur Nehmzow (horn), David Lenckos and Raymond Nosal (clarinet), Rand McFarland (euphonium and trombone) and Jessie Miller (saxophone) clinician. Additional clinicians will be provided for the bassoon and tuba.
Dr. Marlene Schleiffer, professor of music at Huntington College, will be the clinician for the oboe, and Ray Dandurand from the Massachusetts Air National Guard Band will be the percussion clinician, and also perform a xylophone solo during the concert on Sunday.
BandFest 2002 will culminate with a concert showcasing students' newly polished musical skills. The concert will begin at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2002, in the Merillat Centre for the Arts. The concert is free and open to the public, but tickets are required for reserved seating.
