Tamra R. Williams is an assistant professor of agricultural education in the Haupert Institute for Agricultural Studies at Huntington University, where she is responsible for educating the next generation of agricultural educators and FFA advisors. This encompasses teaching undergraduate courses in agricultural education, advising students, conducting research relevant to the field of agricultural sciences, and engaging in service to the University and community.
Tamra’s goals as an educator are to create a well-rounded program that covers a broad spectrum of agricultural disciplines, including crop science, animal science, agribusiness, agricultural economics, and agricultural education; integrate practical experience through internships, research projects, and field trips to prepare students for real-world challenges that they may encounter in the classroom; and align with industry needs by collaborating with local and regional agricultural businesses to ensure that HU students are well prepared to serve the students and community they teach.
A profound commitment to student success and community impact has marked Tamra’s career dedicated to agricultural education. Through innovative curriculum development, mentorship, and developing a strong FFA chapter at the high school level, she has cultivated future leaders equipped with the knowledge and skills to excel in the agricultural industry. By emphasizing hands-on learning, industry partnerships, and character development, she has empowered students to become well-rounded individuals prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. The strong relationships she built with students, colleagues, and industry professionals has created a lasting legacy, as evidenced by the achievements of past students who now contribute meaningfully to their communities and the agricultural sector.
Originally from Nevada, Tamra cherishes spending quality time with her husband and daughter, building lasting memories together. When not immersed in family life, she enjoys exploring the world through antiquing and travel and learning about local agriculture, relaxing in cozy coffee shops and trying local delicacies. Crafting and spending time outside in the garden provide peaceful escapes.
