Joined the Huntington University faculty in 2024.

Maria Charland works in the Department of Nursing as the coordinator of nursing simulation and resource center. In this role, Maria uses her background in nursing and health and safety instruction to support nursing students in the development of clinical skills and judgement through hands on activities and education. Maria holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Purdue University and a Master of Science degree in nursing, leadership, and management from Western Governors University.

Maria lives in her hometown of Fort Wayne. In her free time, she enjoys reading, gardening, crocheting, doing puzzles, and playing games with her family.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Purdue University, Fort Wayne
  • Master of Science degree in nursing, leadership, and management from Western Governors University

  • Certified Lactation Specialist

Notable Experiences:

  • Nurse for seven years in the neonatal intensive care unit
  • Nurse and program supervisor for six years for a community health non-profit serving at-risk pregnant women, children, and families in Allen County and surrounding counties
