Dr. Swanson is a licensed (LMHC) mental health counselor in the states of Indiana and Michigan. Dr. Swanson has 24 years in Administration in private Higher Education in areas such as Student Life, Liberal Arts Core, Health and Counseling Center, Security, Athletics, Registrar, Library, Chapel as well as years as a therapist in the Detroit area. Dr. Swanson has taught graduate and undergraduate courses for the past 22 years in the areas of Leadership, Higher Education Administration, Freshman Foundations, Marriage and Family, Addictions, Research Methods, and Ethics as well as topics in the field of counseling and psychology and higher education administration. Dr. Swanson has also been a presenter at conferences, churches and seminars both in the business world and in higher education.

Dr. Swanson has a B.S. from William Tyndale College (Music and Biblical Studies), a M.A from Eastern Michigan University (Counseling and Personnel Guidance), and a Ph.D. from Western Michigan University (Higher Ed Administration).

Dr. Swanson is currently serving as the CEO of the Kosciusko Community YMCA in Warsaw, Indiana. His hobbies include teaching, sports, seventies music, watching magicians perform and wrestling alligators in a controlled environment when visiting Florida. Dr. Swanson also enjoys reading (nonfiction and research), watching his son and daughter play sports in College and High School. Dr. Swanson has been married to his wife Patti for 30 years. He and Patti have three children (John, Tim and Katie).
