Heidi Carpenter, OTD, OTR/L, CBIS, is an academic fieldwork coordinator and assistant professor in the Doctoral Program in Occupational Therapy in Arizona. She has worked clinically in neurohabilitation, outpatient and inpatient settings, and pediatric and adult home health. Dr. Carpenter also has a passion for working with individuals and families to incorporate wellness habits into every life.

Dr. Carpenter has published collaborative research projects in peer-reviewed journals and professional publications and has presented at national and local conferences. She is a native of Arizona and grew up in Gilbert.

Notable Experience

  • Member of the Arizona Occupational Therapy Association (ArizOTA)
    • Works with the Arizona OT community and the ArizOTA Education Committee to plan the ArizOTA conferences
    • Started the inaugural Journal Club series
    • Founded the Home Health SIS
    • Initiated the formation of an annual outstanding student award for OT and OTA students
  • Year-long pediatric residency program with Creighton University
    • Received additional training in outpatient pediatric (e.g. sensory integration and feeding, eating, and swallowing) and school-based settings
    • Was the lab assistant for the pediatric coursework for the entry-level OTD students
