Joined the Huntington University faculty in 2006.

Dr. Barb Michel began teaching at Huntington University in 2006. She graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in art education and Bachelor of Arts degree in commercial advertising. She went on to receive her master’s degree in art education from Indiana University in Indianapolis and completed a doctoral degree in higher education visual arts curriculum and instruction at Capella University. Michel has won numerous awards for her work as an art educator. Before joining the HU art department she taught secondary visual arts for 12 years. She has presented at state and national art education conferences and she serves as the faculty advisor for HU’s Student Art Education chapter. Dr. Michel exhibits her art regionally and has juried a number of art exhibits including national Scholastics art competitions, the Honeywell’s Clark Gallery Black and White exhibit, and Taylor University’s photography exhibit to name a few. Courses that Dr. Michel teaches at HU include art education methods and foundations, drawing, painting, art appreciation, art history, 2D design, and basic photography. Professional memberships include the National Art Education Association, the Art Education Association of Indiana, and the College Art Association.
