Tuck Everlasting: The Musical

Fabulous family fun comes to Zurcher Auditorium

It is that time of year again for another Huntington University Theatre Company performance. This year, the musical production is Tuck Everlasting. If you are anything like me when I first heard about this show and wondered what Tuck Everlasting is, then keep reading.

The Broadway musical is based on the children’s novel by Natalie Babbitt. It’s a family-friendly show about a young girl, Winnie Foster, who has lived her whole life under the strict authority of her mom. According to Winnie, she isn’t allowed to have any fun even though she’s a good girl. One day, she decides to go into her woods for the first time. While in the woods, she meets the Tuck family. What Winnie doesn’t know is that the Tucks are immortal.

Throughout the show, you’ll get many questions answered. How did the Tucks become immortal? Does Winnie ever go back home? Does Winnie become immortal?

You’ll also meet many characters who help develop the story. Jesse Tuck is the younger Tuck brother and Winnie’s friend. The Man in the Yellow Suit is the mysterious villain of the story who so badly wants to become immortal as well. Mae Tuck is the mother of the Tuck family, and she loves them dearly. Constable Joe sets out to find Winnie after her family realizes she’s run away. There are many more characters like Miles Tuck, Nana, and Angus whom you’ll enjoy learning more about throughout the show.

The little things don’t go unnoticed with this production team. The costumes, set design, choreography, and everything in between have come together to create a beautiful show for everyone to enjoy. Everyone involved has worked very hard to make this show come to life. Tuck Everlasting will encourage you to live life to the fullest.

If you enjoy fun dance breaks, beautiful music, or are in need of a good laugh, then I highly recommend coming to watch Tuck Everlasting at Huntington University. The showings are November 16-18 in the Merillat Centre for the Arts at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee performance at 2:00 p.m. on November 18. We would love to see you there!
