In honor of Fall Break, the second half of the semester, and many research projects to come, we're bringing back a post from March 2023 about the ways RichLyn Library helps Foresters succeed!

RichLyn Library is a vital resource for academic success at Huntington University. When I asked several of my peers what the first word that came into their mind was when they heard the word “library,” many of them said “books.” While this response is accurate, the Library has much more to offer the students at HU, and that often goes unnoticed. Check out (no pun intended) some of the Library’s services:

  • Research Databases

Struggling to find academic sources for a project or research paper? The Library offers numerous databases, free of charge for students, that provide thousands of academic journals and articles! These databases cover topics ranging from literary to historical, theatrical to scientific, and every topic in between. With the Library’s help, you can find exactly what you are looking for without having to comb through millions of unhelpful sources. To check out the full list of databases that are available to you as a student through HU, check out Huntington Library A-Z Databases. Also, for access to periodicals and journals on almost every academic subject, explore BrowZine Library, another helpful resource that students have access to through HU.

  • Citation Help

Not sure how to cite an article or journal in your paper? Are you afraid of plagiarizing? RichLyn Library can help you feel confident in your citation abilities. On the Library’s citation page, there are guidelines for how to cite your sources in APA, MLA, Chicago, and scientific styles. Also provided are links to other distinguished academic websites for more information on citation styles and guidelines. For more assistance with evaluating resources and citing, reach out to Noelle Keller, director of library services, at nkeller@huntington.edu.

  • Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Have you found a an article or book from a research database that isn’t available at RichLyn Library? Have no fear — Randy Neuman, assistant director of library services, is on the case. When you submit an ILL form, Randy will find your article or book at another library. Then, he will either email you a PDF of the source or send for a physical copy for you to use. An ILL is at no cost to students, and the source is usually found within 24 to 48 hours. For more information on how to request an ILL, explore the Library’s ILL page.

  • Technology and E-books

Is your laptop malfunctioning right before an online exam? RichLyn Library provides several technological services for students. iPads and laptops are available for students to check out for one-week loans. Additionally, the Library has a computer lab that students can use for classes. For more information on the available equipment and technology, check out the Library’s technology page. Additionally, the Library has thousands of e-books that can be checked out. Sign in with your student account information at OverDrive to receive access to e-books through HU.

With your new perspective into RichLyn Library’s commitment to serve students in various ways in their academic fields, take advantage of the resources available to you! To explore even more of the Library’s services, visit the RichLyn Library home page.
