Is This Dorm Wright for You?

Wright Hall offers a fun environment for male students

There is something about the atmosphere in Wright Hall that I just love. Maybe it’s because that’s where most of my male college friends live. I just tend to see people up to some goofy shenanigans or just having some fun conversation while walking in or out of Wright. Plus, they’ve got The Dry Gentleman, where I can get a drink with a funny name for 25 cents. Although, I don’t really know what it’s like to live in Wright; the most I can do is hang out during open dorm hours, which I don’t even do that often anyway. However, I got some perspectives from my Wright "bros" on what their dorm has to offer.

A big quality that came up was the floor layout. One of my friends mentioned how Wright is structured in a two-wing system with multiple bathrooms based on proximity convenience, multiple lounges per floor, and multiple stairwells to make navigation more practical. The floors are also laid out in a sort of zigzag pattern, giving the halls a nice dynamic flow that is unique to Wright Hall.

Now, I can’t talk about Wright Hall without mentioning the main lounge that connects it to Hardy Hall. One friend described it as, “the objectively peakest lobby,” and I may be a loyal defender of the lounge that connects Roush Hall and Baker Hall, but he does have a point. Wright’s lobby has two floors, each with a television to watch shows with friends. They also have a pool table, a foosball table, and a ping pong table on the bottom level if you need a way to settle things (I will destroy you in foosball).

One additional thing I noticed is the amount of storage in the dorm rooms. They have a ton of shelf space, including a good spot for a TV. I’ve also seen a lot of cabinet space and an extra drawer that fits under the bed. I love having a lot of storage, so this seems like a nice setup.

Check out Wright Hall if you haven’t already. The building is basically in the middle of campus, so it’s hard to miss. However, you should still check out the other dorms, especially if you’re a girl since Wright is a male dorm. Information on all the residence halls can be found at huntington.edu/Residence-Halls.
