I Took a Break from My Cubicle
This Fall Break, I went with the gang for a few days to my friend’s relatives’ vacation home in Michigan.
Without going into too much detail, it was a good time. We would sometimes talk as if our college years were a TV show. Freshman year (season one) was the establishing phase, where characters get introduced and there are more gags than story beats. Meanwhile, sophomore year (season two) is where the characters get more development and interactions are more meaningful, and this trip just reinforced that.
I almost chose not to go. I had three unfinished projects and was nervous about cutting too close to the deadlines. Although, once I got back and went to work on them, I realized I had more done and had more time than I thought. Sure, right now, I am still trying to outrun the clock, but the time I spent with the guys is worth the minute stress. Plus, on the way back, one of them introduced me to some amazing music artists.
If your friend group is planning something and you feel unsure about going, do what you will regret missing out on later. Class work is important, but these social experiences are a one-time deal. Even if you plan more activities later on, they will never be the same as the last. Personally, I regret nothing, and that means a lot coming from a worrier like me.
