Spark new ideas while having fun

You clicked on this post because you need a brain break. Maybe you are tired of studying, you are in the pits of boredom, or you need a distraction. You didn’t come to read a long introduction or a three-step method on how to beat brain drain (but if you want to, check out this awesome article by Lifehacker: Ten Ways to Defeat Brain Drain). I’ll keep it short — here are five fun brain break activities and games.

1. Wordle

In this popular word game, you have six chances to guess a five-letter word. The trick: there’s only one word every 24 hours. If you think you have Wordle mastered, check out Quordle, Wordle times four!

2. Connections

You are given 16 random words and must select groups of four that share something in common. Match up all four groups of four without making mistakes!

3. Random Word Generator

Stuck on a paper you are writing? Try the Random Word Generator to get your creative energies flowing.

4. Sudoku

This Japanese logic puzzle is a 9×9 grid. The goal is to fill each row, column, and 3x3 section with the numbers 1-9 without having any repeats from the already filled in boxes.

5. Google Snake

Use the arrow keys to direct the snake to apples. Avoid running into walls and the snake’s ever-growing tail.

Hopefully these brain breaks help your brain chill out and recharge. After you play a game or two, get back to studying! For more helpful ideas about stress management, visit the Office of Student Success.
