Associate Professor of Theatre Arts
Department Chair and Division Chair of the Fine Arts

Jay Duffer currently serves as Chair of the Theatre Department and Division Chair of the Fine Arts and teaches the acting curriculum. Prior to joining the faculty at HU, Duffer spent many years as a professional actor, director and playwright living and working in New York City. He has performed in venues ranging from Off-Broadway to regional houses across the country.

Melissa Duffer is a cum laude graduate of Baylor University with a degree in music education where she was named Outstanding Senior Woman in the School of Music. Following graduation, Melissa moved to New York City and completed training in musical theatre at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.

New York productions include the Off-Broadway premiere "Take It Easy," Equity Showcases "All Is Full of Love," and "Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It all for You."

Maura Knowles is an actor and singer whose mix of sass and sophistication have led to a wide range of projects, from her roles in the award-winning rock musical Bare, Francis Ford Coppola's Gidget and her one-woman show, Life's Little Ironies, to the CDs she recorded with Frank Palmieri and Hollywood Revisited (LML Music).
