Professor Connie Updike earned her B.S. from Manchester College in Physical Education, Health, and Recreation, M.S. in Secondary Education with a Physical Education, Health and Recreation endorsement from Indiana University and has completed post graduate work in Therapeutic Recreation from Indiana University.

Dr. Jody Davenport earned her Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from Manchester College in North Manchester, Ind., and her Master of Science degree in secondary education from IPFW. She earned her Ph.D. in post-secondary and adult education from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minn.

Kathy Rhodes, Huntington University, a Christian college

Kathy Rhodes
Director of Clinical Experiences

Kathy Rhodes is the director of clinical experiences for the education department at Huntington University. She graduated from Huntington University with a degree in English education and earned a master's degree in English from Purdue University (the Fort Wayne campus). She taught both middle school and high school English for a total of 35 years with the last 25 at Huntington North High School.

Dr. Cynthia Steury teaches in the education department and serves the institution as assistant dean for faculty development and as a professor of education. Her teaching load includes courses in children’s literature, classroom management and organization, mathematics methods, and field experience supervision.

Assistant Athletic Trainer/Adjunct Professor

Chris works within the Athletics Department providing medical care to Huntington University student athletes. Chris also teaches several classes as an adjunct professor for the Department of Exercise Science.

Dr. Matthew Ruiz earned his Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training and exercise science from Lipscomb University, a Master of Science degree in exercise science and sport studies from Springfield College, and a Ph.D. in kinesiology with an emphasis in sport and exercise psychology from the University of Minnesota.

Professor Boyer is assistant professor of education for early childhood, elementary language arts, and elementary science methods courses. In addition, she directs the study program housed at Thornhill Nature Preserve, teaches in the Master of Education and EXCEL (adult studies) programs, and supervises student teachers.
