Dr. Mark Fairchild, Luke J. Peters Professor of biblical studies, will be presenting a paper on “Pirates and Robbers in Southern Anatolia” at a conference in Izmir, Turkey, near the end of January. He will present a second paper on “The Jewish Archaeology of Asia Minor” in Vienna, Austria, at the Austrian Archaeological Institute and Vienna University, also near the end of January.

Dr. John Noble, assistant professor of Bible and religion, has been named the recipient of Huntington University’s research fellowship. He was recognized with this honor because of his research into the literary and theological significance of the figure of Ishmael in the Abrahamic covenant. The fellowship will allow him to continue his research work this summer at the Harvard University libraries.
