The first semiannual Huntington College High School Mathematics Competition occurred today in the Habecker Dining Commons at Huntington College. Six area high school teams met to compete for individual and team awards for their demonstration of mathematical ability.
Huntington College’s next Visiting Executive Seminar will be held on Friday, October 13, from 8:45 a.m. to 12:00 noon, in the upper level of the Habecker Dining Commons. The seminar will be led by Jim O'Donnell, associate professor of business and executive-in-residence, and Ned Kiser, vice president for advancement.
Huntington College Theatre will present the comedy, “Beau Jest,” in the Studio Theatre of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. Performances will begin at 8 p.m. on November 2, 3, 4 and 9, 10, 11.
Huntington College students crowned their Homecoming King and Queen on Friday, October 6, 2000 in a well attended evening ceremony on the Alumni Plaza.
The Department of Music at Huntington College will present its 15th Annual Church Music Concert on Monday, October 23, at 8 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 50 E. Tipton Street, Huntington.
Members of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic will perform at Huntington College’s Merillat Centre for the Arts on Thursday, October 19 at 8:00 p.m. The evening will consist of Mozart’s Quintet in A Major for Clarinet and Strings, K.581, Stamitz’s Quartet in E-Flat Major, Op. 8, No. 2, and Britten’s String Quartet No. 2 in C Major, Op. 36. Members from the Friemann String Quartet – including Hiromi Ito and Hua Jin, violins; Margaret Prechtl, viola; and Gena Taylor, cello – will perform the Britten piece. The repertoire for this concert comes from the Friemann Series which presents a variety of small ensembles.
Huntington College will host the Sixth Annual Fort Wayne Christian College Fair on Thursday, October 5. The event will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at The Chapel, 2505 W. Hamilton Road S., Fort Wayne, IN 46804. Approximately forty Christian colleges and universities from around the country will be represented.
Dr. Suellen Reed, Indiana’s superintendent of public instruction, will be the guest speaker at this month’s breakfast of the Huntington College Foundation, Wednesday, October 11, at the Habecker Dining Commons. Dr. Reed is currently touring the State for a series of town meetings focusing on accountability efforts, professional development for teachers and staff, and school safety.
The United States Air Force HUFFMAN PRAIRIE WINDS return to Huntington College on Friday, October 13 to present a chamber music concert at 8 p.m. in the Longaker Recital Hall of the Merillat Centre for the Arts.
The music faculty of Huntington College will present the second annual Faculty Showcase Recital on Saturday, October 7, at 3 p.m. in the main auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors. Tickets are available in advance from the Merillat Centre Box Office, (260) 359-4261. Tickets will also be available at the door. The afternoon recital will be a highlight of Huntington College’s Homecoming 2000.
