Baker students beat record for longest Four-Square marathonSeven members of Baker Hall beat the Guinness World Record for consecutive games of Four Square by playing the game for 31 consecutive hours. The old record was 29 hours straight, set by Argentinian college students in 2009.

Annual high school art exhibit to open Feb. 6The ninth annual Huntington University High School Art Exhibit will be held in the Robert E. Wilson Gallery on campus from Feb. 6 to 22. This juried invitational exhibit will feature 100 different works of art from regional high school students.

Huntington University’s Friesen Center for Volunteer Service will host a blood drive from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Feb. 5 in the upper level of the Habecker Dining Commons on campus. This will be the third of four scheduled blood drives for the 2013-2014 academic year.

LifeSpring Counseling Center to open in Fort WayneHuntington University’s free counseling clinic, LifeSpring Counseling Center, will open a new office in Fort Wayne near the Parkview Randallia campus. The expansion to Fort Wayne will allow students taking graduate counseling classes at the Randallia campus to gain real-world experience by working with clients at the clinic.

O’Donnell’s economic forecast rescheduled for Feb. 3Huntington University has rescheduled Jim O’Donnell’s annual state-of-the-economy forecast for Monday, Feb. 3. The program will still be offered as a Foundation Breakfast with breakfast being served at 7:45 a.m. and the program beginning at 8 a.m.

Huntington University is seeking comments from the public about the University in preparation for its periodic evaluation by its regional accrediting agency. The University will host a visit March 24-26, 2014, with a team representing the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association. Huntington University has been accredited by the Commission since 1961. The team will review the institution’s ongoing ability to meet the Commission’s Criteria for Accreditation.

Renown youth ministry author Steve Gerali to give adolescent development seminarHuntington University’s youth ministry leadership graduate program will host an adolescent development seminar at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5201 Spring Cypress, Klein, Texas, on Feb. 5. The seminar will run from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will feature Steve Gerali, an award-winning author, professor and clinical counselor.

Up by six with just over a minute remaining, it looked like the No. 20 Forester men’s basketball team (14-3, 4-1) was on their way to upsetting No. 15 Indiana Wesleyan University (13-4, 3-2) Wednesday night at Platt Arena but Jordan Weidner decided otherwise as his long range fader tickled the bottom of the net to send the game to overtime where the Wildcats took charge for the 89-77 win.

DeLois McKinley-Eldridge, a civil rights activist who participated in the 1963 demonstrations for desegregation, will speak at the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day service at Huntington University. The program will begin at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 20 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. The public is encouraged to attend.

U.S. News names HU’s online degrees top Christian program in IndianaU.S. News and World Report named Huntington University one of the top colleges in the country for online bachelor’s degree programs. In results released today, Huntington was the top Christian college in Indiana and was third among all Indiana schools.

Weather briefing about J-term ClassesClasses will be held Wednesday, Jan. 8, and offices will be open. Wear boots and be safe on campus! Because of the delay with the start of J-term, classes have been extended by one day to Thursday, Jan. 23. In addition, the HU Foundation breakfast has been postponed until February, and the men's basketball game scheduled for today has been postponed tomorrow (Jan. 8). We will monitor conditions and post any updates on the website, HU portal, the Campus Alert System and social media.
