Huntington University's Friesen Center for Volunteer Service is a student-directed organization that mobilizes the campus community for Christian service. The Friesen Center involves students in the local community, instills a lifelong tendency toward service, and promotes the idea that one person can make a difference. You can get involved with the Friense Center by either signing up at the beginning of fall term, or by calling the the office (located in the upper level of the HUB) anytime throughout the year at 260-358-3696.
Founded in 1992, the Friesen Center, formally the Joe Mertz Center, has become and integral part of Huntington University campus life. Many students, faculty and staff give generously of their time and talents to serve God and His people. More than 70% of resident students are involved in some form of volunteer service, and more than 10,000 hours of labor are contributed by the campus community each year. The Friesen Center was named in May 2013 in honor of Dr. Norris Friesen, for his his lifelong commitment to serving others.
