What does the Horizon
Leader Scholarship cover?
This full-tuition scholarship is a combination of federal, state and
institution funds. The scholarship covers tuition as well as room and board.

What are the
requirements to be eligible for this scholarship?
To be eligible for
this scholarship students must have the following: 2.9 GPA, 19 ACT/900 SAT,
involvement or affiliation with Youth for Christ and other leadership
involvement evident through extracurricular activities.

How do
I apply for the scholarship?
1.) Applicants must submit
an
application for admission to Huntington University.
2.)
Applicants must have a
demonstrated financial need determined by completing the
Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA) form by March 1.
3.)
Applicants must be graduating high school
seniors with a minimum of 2.9 GPA, 19 ACT or 900 SAT.
4.) Applicants must complete the
Horizon Leader Scholarship application.
5.) Applicants must submit application materials
by the annual
deadline. (Materials must be postmarked by this date).

What does the application
process entail?
PHASE I: APPLICATION
1.) Complete and submit a Huntington
University application for admission, Horizon Leader Scholarship Application
and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form by the specified
deadlines.
2.) 10 semifinalists are then selected and invited to campus to participate
in Phase II.
PHASE II: CAMPUS EVENT
1.) 10
semifinalists are invited to campus to participate in an on-campus interview
with the scholarship selection committee.
2.) 6
finalists are selected and notified via phone and with an official letter.

Is this scholarship only
for minority students?
Yes. This
scholarship is aimed at attracting students from underrepresented
populations.

Do you have to be
African-American to apply for this scholarship?
No. The scholarship is geared toward all students who would
increase racial and ethnic diversity on campus.

Is the selection of
scholarship recipients based solely on race?
No. The
following criteria have been established for the scholarship. Students must
have a 2.9 GPA, 900 SAT/19 ACT, involvement or affiliation with Youth for
Christ, and other leadership involvement evident through extracurricular
activities.

Why a "full ride"?
The
scholarship is a combination of federal, state and institution funds.
Providing financial assistance will attract and create access for students
from underrepresented populations.

Is the Horizon Leadership
Program only for students from the Fort Wayne area?
No.
Students from across the United States are encouraged to apply contingent on
their involvement in Youth for Christ or an endorsement from a Youth for
Christ employee.

Can students transfer
from another college?
No. Only
graduating high school seniors are eligible to apply.

What
sort of support systems will be in place for the Horizon students once they
arrive on campus?
The director of
the Horizon Leadership Program will provide mentorship and advocacy for
students in the program. Students will engage in weekly meetings and
scheduled study tables.
