Business Education

In the parable of the talents, Jesus describes a “steward” as one who has responsibility for someone else’s assets. Stewardship is an excellent approach to both business and teaching. As a business educator, you’ll have responsibility for a very precious resource—your students.

Girded by faith, equipped with up-to-the-minute skills and technology, and confident in your calling, you will serve as an effective steward of young hearts and minds within the teaching  profession. We can help you achieve that goal.

The Business and Economics Department at Huntington University offers five distinct programs. Students may choose specializations in accounting, economics and finance, management, business education, not-for-profit management, or small business management (entrepreneurship). Students may also choose  minors in marketing or management information systems (MIS).

Our Bachelor of Science degree in business education is specifically designed for students who wish to obtain an Indiana teaching license. Reciprocity agreements between Indiana and other states help our graduates find employment all across the country. (Ask our faculty about your particular career plans.)

As a business education major at Huntington, you will gain  both textbook knowledge and hands-on experience. Moreover, we will help you develop a Christian foundation  for both business and teaching. Our curriculum has been intentionally designed to integrate Christian perspectives and ethical considerations with classroom management and pedagogical theory.

To prepare for a career teaching business, you will spend many hours in actual school classrooms, observing skilled teachers and working directly with students. In addition, through our Executive-in-Residence Program, you will wrestle with contemporary business issues alongside fellow students, faculty, and regional business leaders.
