Brethren
Productions is the department’s electronic field and post production
company. Students can gain the professional experience necessary for those
entry level positions in the video production marketplace through practicum
experience with Brethren Productions. The department operates off of a rate
card budget that provides income for upgrades of equipment and supplies.
Recent clients have included local businesses, film companies, the Church of
the United Brethren in Christ, and former vice president
Dan Quayle
(inset), whose museum
is located in Huntington.
On
location opportunities abound. Several outside clients have hired
Brethren Productions to shoot commercials, industrial video, and mission
videos. Students have traveled to New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Macau,
Burma, Honduras, and Nicaragua on Brethren
Productions shoots. The department utilizes cutting edge video software and
hardware in editing and producing quality videos for our clients.
On the Air!
HTV 22 News the department’s weekly local news
show. Students write, report, direct, and produce the shows which air online
and around campus. HTV is one of only 70 of CBS's college affiliate
stations.
Students
obtain hands-on broadcasting experience by announcing on our
campus radio and internet outlet
WQHU-LP FM. The radio outlet
includes both an on-air studio and a production news room facility with a multi-track digital audio workstation. Our broadcast is now
available live via Internet.
Studios
are state-of-the-art. Students learn proper announcing and
production skills using the same type of equipment found in the real world.
Broadcasting Curriculum. In addition to core courses and general
