Allwein to present senior theatre project

Abigail Allwein will present her two-person contemporary musical, “The Last Five Years,” as her senior theatre project at 7:30 p.m. April 18 in the Studio Theatre of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. “The Last Five Years” chronicles a couple throughout their relationship over a span of five years. It is a commentary on the dual nature of responsibility in relationships, the damage caused by unfaithfulness, and the joy of finding a person to love for a lifetime. The story has a twist because the male in the relationship tells the tale from beginning to end, while the female tells it from end to beginning.

Students present papers at convention

Whitney Abbott, Will Braun, Caitlynn Lowe and Chris Sutton represented Huntington University at the National Convention of Alpha Chi National Honor Society held April 2-4 in Indianapolis. They were accompanied by chapter sponsors, Dr. Paul Michelson and Jean Michelson. Abbott, a senior psychology major, presented a paper on “Transition from Prison to Real Life: Future Social Support Systems for Previous Offenders”; Lowe, a junior English major, gave a paper on “Love is Hell: The Legend of Dido”; and Sutton, a senior history major, gave a paper titled “‘Rather Thin’: The Complicated and Telling Decolonization of Cyprus, 1929-1960.” Lowe and Sutton competed for Region V scholarships and were the chapter’s nominees for National Alpha scholarships. The Huntington chapter also was invited to give a poster workshop on chapter activities. Dr. Paul Michelson serves as Region V vice-president of Alpha Chi; both he and Jean Michelson chaired student presentation panels at the convention.
