Harmony found herself searching for ways to get involved in the town of
Huntington and she fell in love with an organization known as Habitat
for Humanity. She had heard of Habitat before but until she actually
visited a building site she did not have a clue what building a house
was like. Her two favorite parts of building a Habitat home is putting
the exterior walls up and getting to work beside other volunteers and
the Habitat home owners. Harmony not only built houses in Huntington
but also went to Jacksonville, Florida and Morgantown, West Virginia to
help those in need. Building houses wasn’t the only thing Harmony did
while at Huntington. She also played powder-puff football, competed on
intramural sports teams, and was in Kappa Delta Pi. All this was on top
of studying for all of her history and education classes.
Harmony says, “Huntington is an incredible place to come
and learn. I not only learned the things I needed to know for my major
but I also learned things that I could never have imagined. I learned
about myself and about others, and more importantly, how to love
others. I learned a little of what it means to live like Christ did and
to follow Him wholeheartedly (however this is a life long process that
I’m still learning). I am so glad that I have the opportunity to share
my experiences at Huntington with those who are looking at Huntington as
a possible place to attend school!”
