For more than a decade, U.S. News & World Report has consistently ranked Huntington among the Midwest’s best colleges. The 2011 edition of America’s Best Colleges marks the 16th consecutive year that Huntington University has been listed among the top-tier schools in the region.
To rank schools, U.S. News first organizes colleges and universities by category and then ranks them within each group. Rankings are based on the following criteria: peer assessment (25 percent), graduation and retention rates (25 percent), faculty resources (20 percent), student selectivity (15 percent), financial resources (10 percent), and alumni giving (5 percent). The “Great Prices” rankings were based on three factors: ratio of quality to price; percentage of all undergrads receiving need-based scholarships or grants during the 2009-2010 year; and the average discount given to students through need-based scholarships or grants.
All U.S. News rankings appear on the magazine’s website. College-bound students can use the site to search for colleges and universities according to their own interests. Students may also fill out interactive worksheets and search for scholarship and financial aid information.
