Create holiday wreathes at Thornhill

FOR RELEASE
2002-11-25
Huntington, Ind.— As Thanksgiving approaches, more and more people are putting up holiday decorations. Consider making something fresh and new to decorate your home this year. Instead of putting last year’s tired old wreathes on your doors and windows, bring friends and family for an evening of creativity and crafts. On December 3, 2002, from 7:00- 9:00pm, Huntington College and Thornhill Nature Preserve will host a fun evening of creativity and community. Refreshments will be served. The evening is open to the public with no charge. Donations will be accepted to support Thornhill Nature Preserve.

Pat Zezula will demonstrate how to make a number of different wreathes to brighten the Christmas season. Zezula, the Chairman of Physical Education and Exercise Science and Recreation at Huntington College, has created wreathes for 20 years. Presenting at various craft shows, she also makes wreathes to sell. Zezula will bring some of her wreathes as examples and for purchase. Guests are invited to bring their own materials to create their own beautiful holiday wreathes. Some suggested materials are holiday ribbon, wire, greens, wreath frames, pinecones, or anything else that might be useful in making a decoration that matches your holiday style.

Huntington College operates Thornhill Nature Preserve for the educational enrichment of its own students and the regional community. The 77-acre property includes a variety of diverse habitats, including evergreen and deciduous forest, a woodland pond, meadows, and wetlands. The diverse ecosystem supports a wide variety of wildflowers, mammals, and birds.
