HC among the Great Colleges for the Real World
Second straight year Huntington earns honor
Huntington, Ind.—Huntington College has been named one of the Great Colleges for the Real World for the second year in a row. Author Michael Viollt has chosen 201 colleges that successfully serve the needs of today’s consumer-oriented students in his book by the same name.
"Our listing in the Real World guide demonstrates that college-bound students don't necessarily have to choose between preparing for a specific career and preparing for all of life," said HC spokesman John Paff. "Huntington offers the best of both worlds--training for the real world coupled with a values-centered liberal arts education rooted in the Christian faith."
Colleges featured in the book are those that respond to current student demand and are known for graduating students that are truly prepared for the world of work. Each college was evaluated in five summary areas:
· Opportunity for the general student populations to get into and pay for a college.
· The relative success of previous classes in graduating in a timely fashion.
· The commitment made by the school to develop career opportunities.
· The overall college experience.
· Recent market response to the college or university.
Viollt highlighted HC’s off-campus programs that allow students to spend a semester studying abroad or at a different setting within the United States. He also featured the accelerated degree in organizational management for working adult professionals through the EXCEL program.
Other Indiana schools listed in the book included Butler University, Franklin College, Indiana Institute of Technology, Marian College and the University of Indianapolis. Great Colleges for the Real World is available for $9 (postpaid) from Octameron Associates at www.octameron.com.
