HUNTINGTON, IN NOVEMBER 12, 1996 --- This weekend, a live satellite link will connect the Huntington College campus with thousands of believers across America for "Fasting & Prayer ’96." Now in its third year, the national observance seeks to unite Christians in prayer for our country.
The event will be observed in the RichLyn Library, Thursday (Nov. 14) from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.; Friday (Nov. 15) from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.; and Saturday (Nov. 16) from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The public is cordially invited to attend.
"The main purpose of the gathering will be to fast and pray for spiritual revival throughout America and the world and for the fulfillment of the Great Commission by the end of the year 2000," explains retired United Brethren bishop Clarence Kopp, who is the voluntary coordinator for the Huntington College campus site.
"Fasting & Prayer ’96" is sponsored by Mission America, a ministry co-chaired by Rev. Billy Graham, president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, and Dr. Bill Bright, founder and president of Campus Crusade for Christ. The live satellite broadcast will link the main site in St. Louis to locations across the United States, Canada, and Latin America.
"We are convinced that fasting with prayer helps us meet the condition of humility required by the wonderful promise of God in 2 Chronicles 7:14," say the sponsors.
In that Old Testament passage, God says, "If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
For further information, including a detailed list of speakers and prayer times, please contact Rev. Kopp at (260) 356-6000, ext. 1068.
