Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Department of Theatre of Arts will hold an open audition for children ages 8 to 15 for the university’s production of “The Music Man.”
The audition will take place at 4 p.m. Sept. 4 in room 160 of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. The room is located across the hall from the Communication and Theatre Arts Departments’ offices.
Children should be prepared to sing and dance. Girls should be familiar with the chorus of “Goodnight, My Someone.” Boys should be familiar with the song, “Gary, Indiana.” Copies of both songs are available and are posted on the callboard outside the Theatre Arts Department office. They may be picked up anytime after 10 a.m. on Aug. 27. A short dance combination will be taught at the audition as well.
The callback time is 9-10:30 a.m. Sept. 6 also in room 160 of the Merillat Centre for the Arts.
If a child receives a callback, he/she will need to prepare a short scene. Sides will be provided prior to the callback audition. They can be picked up on the callboard outside room 160 of the Merillat Centre for the Arts anytime on Sept. 5 between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. Boys will read “Winthrop” side. Girls will read “Amaryllis” side. At the callback, they will read/act from the sides. They are not required to be memorized, but it would be helpful. They also may be asked to sing again from the songs prepared at the initial audition.
