Huntington, Ind.— Huntington College will host “Investigation Celebration,” a community event for Huntington County Community School Corporation (HCCSC) parents, teachers and students. The upcoming event will take place on Tuesday, March 9, from 4:30-6:30 p.m., in Huntington College’s Science Hall.
Beginning at 4:30 p.m., HC education students in the Elementary Science Methods and Materials class will lead a seminar on how to use the scientific method to complete investigations. This seminar will be open to adults only. HCCSC teachers and parents, as well as local homeschool parents, are cordially invited to attend.
Following the seminar at 5:30 p.m., there will be open exhibits of over 20 completed investigations, exciting demonstrations of “Whiz-Bang Science” presented by chemistry professors and students, refreshments, door prizes and resource tables available. Elementary students are invited and welcome to participate in the open exhibits and other activities from 5:30-6:30 p.m. All HCCSC elementary teachers are invited to participate as well along with HCCSC students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
This community event is intended to help prepare teachers, parents and students for the upcoming Science Fair, which is currently held in the district biannually.
“Investigation Celebration” is the collaboration of several HC professors, students, departments and HCCSC including Susie Burson of the education department, Bill Bordeaux and Ruth Nalliah of the chemistry department, Matt Webb of admissions, Trace Hinesly of HCCSC and Huntington College elementary education and chemistry students.
