Huntington, Ind.— Dr. Dwight Brautigam, professor of history at Huntington College, will speak on “Christianity, Truth, and History” at the April 10 Huntington College Foundation breakfast.

The public is cordially invited to attend. Breakfast will be served at 7:45 a.m., in the Habecker Dining Commons. The program will conclude by 9:00 a.m. The cost of the breakfast is $6 per person. In Brautigam’s presentation, he will explain how the rise of post-modernist thought has raised serious debates among scholars regarding how much one can actually know about the past and what this means for Christians who wish to understand history. Brautigam, who is the chair of the History Department at HC, has served as a faculty member since 1987. He is a two-time recipient of HC’s annual Distinctive Professor of the Year award and has long been recognized by students and peers alike for his commitment to teaching, scholarship and mentoring.

Brautigam holds degrees from Houghton College, University of Kentucky and University of Rochester in New York. He has presented scholarly papers and presentations at many different conferences across the nation and has co-edited the book, Court, County and Culture: Essays on Early Modern British History in Honor of Perez Zagorin.

Brautigam is actively involved in the community as the Third District Representative of the Huntington County Council, a member of the Board of Directors for the Huntington County Children’s Choir, and a member of the Huntington North Varsity Singers Parents’ Organization. He and his family are members of and actively involved in the ministries of College Park United Brethren Church in Huntington.

Huntington College is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 50 academic concentrations. US News and World Report ranks Huntington among the best in the Midwest. Founded in 1897 by the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, Huntington College is located on a contemporary, lakeside campus in Huntington, Indiana.
