HU Takes Out St. Francis Early

The Foresters won five of their six singles matches to put away St. Francis early and finished with their second 6-3 conference victory. Leading the way for the Foresters were standout freshmen Stephanie Strong and Kendra Ganz. The pair had straight set singles victories at #1 and #2 respectively, and teamed for the easy 8-2 win at #1 doubles to remain undefeated on the season.
In her toughest match of her young career, Strong faced Britney Delaney, a former runner-up in the conference tournament at #1 singles. Delaney pushed her in both sets, but Strong was up to the task as she pressured Delaney into numerous mistakes to pick up the 6-4, 6-4 victory. Ganz took down Krista Van Lue 6-3, 6-3 at #2. Other singles winners were #3 Jessica Deter (6-1, 6-2), #4 Katie Sprunger (6-3, 6-2) and #6 Liz Hull (6-1, 6-0).

“We still need work on our doubles, but I was extremely pleased with Stephanie’s win at number one,” said Coach Turner. “Delaney is a very difficult girl to play. She is a solid player and makes you earn your points and Stephanie really stepped up her game when she needed to.”

The women move to 2-1 on the season and 2-1 in conference play.
