The women’s tennis team bounced back from a tough loss to Grace College and knocked off the University of St. Francis Cougars 5-4. With the singles matches completed, the score was 3-3. The Foresters just missed a sweep of the doubles with the #1 doubles team of Stacy Plett and Ashley Counts losing in a tie-breaker. The Foresters had three double winners on the day. Kyleigh Gast won 6-3, 6-4 at #3 singles, Jessica Deter came from behind to win 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 at #4 singles, and Dawn Lauer went 6-1, 6-3 for the win at #5 singles. Gast and Deter teamed for the 8-6 win at #2 doubles and Lauer and Rachael Boersma won with an identical score at #3 doubles. “We played pretty consistently today,” said Coach Turner. “Jessica (Deter) really came through for us because she had to pull out a tough three-setter. I am pretty pleased with the way we played.” The Foresters are now 1-1 on the season and 1-1 in MCC play.
