HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Huntington University women’s soccer Ryan Burgher has announced that Kasandra Zimmerman of Westview Jr. Sr. High School has committed to continue her education and playing career as a Forester this fall.
During her time in a Warrior uniform, Zimmerman dominated the field as a three-year starter. The three-time Defensive MVP was also named First Team All-NECC and First Team All-Area as a junior and capped off her senior campaign by repeating both honors in addition to earning First Team All-NISC tributes and being nominated to play in the North/South Indiana All-Star and the East/West All-Star games.
Off the field Zimmerman is involved in 4-H and her local youth group.
“I took my time making my decision because I wanted to make sure I chose the perfect school for me. I weighed all my options, and in the end I realized Huntington was it,” noted Zimmerman. “I know I will receive a great education at HU as well as grow in my faith! I also loved the soccer team and coaches; I was very comfortable with them and knew that was the type of team I wanted to be on. I cannot wait to live out my next four years at HU, building relationships and making memories that will last forever!”
Coach Burgher looks forward to the impact Zimmerman will have on his team, “I am extremely excited that Kas picked Huntington! She is a great girl with a great personality and she is really going to add a lot to our team.”
“Playing-wise Kas is going to make an impact right away on our team. She is the type of player I love. She is strong, fast and has a lot of fight in her. I’m really excited to see what she does for us this year.”
Zimmerman is undecided on a major. She is the daughter of Terry and Sharon Zimmerman of Topeka, Indiana.
