Women's soccer adds Snider to roster

Huntington, Ind. - Huntington University women's soccer coach Ryan Burgher has announced Wapakoneta High School senior Amy Snider has signed her national letter of intent to continue her education and playing career at HU. She is the Foresters’ eighth recruit to sign for the 2011 season.

A three-year varsity player for the Redskins, Snider served as team captain and received Second Team All-League and Honorable Mention All-District honors. She also played basketball and softball at Wapakoneta. Snider plays club ball for Hogg Creek Soccer Club.

Off the field, Snider is a leader at school and in the community. She is the president of Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Wapakoneta, which she considers her biggest accomplishment and honor. She is also active in the National Honor Society, student senate, school newspaper, Sportsmanship Committee, W-Club, First United Methodist Youth Group and Harvest Baptist Bible Study.

Snider, who is undecided on a major but leaning towards early education or missions says, "Huntington has the perfect Christ-centered, small campus feel with professors and coaches who truly care. I am most excited about growing spiritually while getting involved in outreach and meeting new people. With great coaches and teammates who love the game, I also can't wait to continue playing soccer and softball as a Forester."

"Stepping away from athletics, Amy is the type of person that instantly makes your team stronger. She has amazing character and you can really see the love and passion she has for people and I know that will translate towards her teammates," said Coach Burgher. "On the field, we are getting a player who has size, speed and skill. She has the potential to come in right away and fight for time at three different positions."

Amy is the daughter of Rick and Cindy Snider.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 53 NAIA All-America honors and 173 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
