Underwood named Athlete of the Week

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of October 8-14, 2012. Women’s soccer senior Lisa Underwood earned the honor for her outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.

Underwood. a 5-6 forward, was an integral part of Huntington’s two Crossroads League wins last week. The Fort Wayne native (Bishop Dwenger HS) compiled seven points overall. In HU’s 3-2 win over Goshen, she scored a pair of goals which included the game-winner and assisted the other. Three days later, Underwood finished with a goal in the Foresters’ 2-1 win over Marian.

To date, she leads the team in goals scored (11) and assists (6) and holds nine different national rankings including being ranked 12th in the NAIA for game winning goals with four.

Huntington (11-3) is back in action on Saturday when they host 6th-ranked Spring Arbor University at 2:00 p.m. 
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 46 NAIA All-America honors and 202 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
