Hartman and Cubic earn MCC All-Conference honors

The Mid-Central Conference (MCC) announced its post-season awards for the 2010-11 women's soccer season and sophomore forward Brittany Hartman and freshman midfielder Sam Cubic were First Team All-Conference selections.

Brittany Hartman from Ossian, Indiana (Norwell HS), was arguably the most dangerous player for the Foresters this season. Hartman played in every game and scored ten goals and dished out one assist. Hartman’s biggest moments of the season came when she scored the overtime game-winner against Bluffton University, the overtime game-winner against Taylor University and the game-winner against Grace College in the MCC tournament.

“I definitely did not expect to be named All-Conference,” said Hartman. “It is definitely motivation to keep working hard for next season.”

Sam Cubic from Fort Wayne, Indiana (Carroll HS) was also an All-Conference selection for the Foresters. Cubic finished with four goals and one assist from her central midfield position.

“Sam’s contribution to this team wasn’t measured in goals and assists. She was the anchor for us in the middle of the field, and was a true leader for this team by the way she played," commented Coach Burgher. "She wasn’t given all-conference, she earned this every game.”

“I feel extremely honored to be named All-Conference and to be a part of such a great program,” remarked Cubic. “I can't wait for next season.”

The 2010 Foresters were the first women’s soccer team to have a winning record and the second women’s team to win a first round game in the MCC tournament. They were also the second HU women’s team to host an MCC tournament game, the last being eight years ago. Huntington finished with a 10-9-1 record.
