The Forester women's soccer
team traveled to Grand Rapids where Cornerstone University made the most of their scoring opportunities to beat HU 4-2.
It was a relatively quiet first half as the Foresters managed four shots to Cornerstone's three but it was the Golden Eagles who cashed in at the 6:19 mark to take the 1-0 lead. Unlike the first half, the first 15 minutes of the second period was a flurry of activity as each team took several turns scoring. The Golden Eagles started the scoring frenzy in the 50th minute of play and HU's Sam Cubic returned the favor with her first goal of the season just four minutes later to make it 2-1.
Cornerstone found the back of the net again at the 57:16 mark but not to be outdone, Claire Creasy finished the ping pong affair with a goal in the 59th minute of play to trim CU's lead to one, 3-2. The Golden Eagles netted one more goal twenty minutes later to grab the 4-2 win.
The Foresters outshot Cornerstone 14-13. Caitlin Adams went the distance in goal to finish with four saves. HU moves to 4-5 on the season. They open up MCC play at Goshen College on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.
