Rochester Hills, Mich. - The Huntington women’s soccer team notched their fourth consecutive win with a 2-0 shutout over Rochester College on Saturday afternoon.
It was another game where the Foresters took control early and never looked back. Just over a minute into the match, pressure by the HU forwards caused the Warrior defenders to turn the ball over around midfield and Sam Cubic was there to take full advantage by putting it side netting from 18 out.
Huntington’s next score came just before halftime when Alex Shaffer received a through ball, dribbled the keeper and played it across to Amy Snider for her first goal in a Forester uniform. It would prove to be more than enough as neither team found the back of the net in the second half giving HU keeper Sam Barclay the shutout. She finished with five saves.
“We are happy with the result we got today,” commented Coach Burgher. “This was our first time playing on turf this season and I thought we handled it well. We have a lot to work on and we are using games to continue to improve daily, our ultimate goal is to get better each game.”
With this win, the Foresters improve to 4-2 on the year. They are back in action Tuesday when they host Manchester College at 3:00 p.m.
