HUNTINGTON, Ind. - It wasn’t exactly how the Forester women’s soccer team would have scripted senior day as they dropped a 1-0 overtime decision to Taylor University at Huntington North High School Wednesday afternoon.
Despite over 35 shots taken between the two teams, with the Trojans outshooting HU 27-9, stingy defense was the name of the game as neither squad found the back of the net in regulation to force an extra period.
Five minutes into overtime, Taylor’s all-time leading goal scorer, Molly Drooger, blasted one home for her fifth game-winner of the year. It marked her 17th goal of the season and secured the Trojans at least a fourth place finish in the Crossroads standings.
HU Goalie Samantha Barclay took the loss in goal. She finished with four saves.
With this loss, the Foresters drop to 12-5-1 on the season. They finish with a 5-3-1 record in conference play and will be the 5th seed in the league tournament slated to begin on Saturday. HU will face either Taylor or Indiana Wesleyan
in the opening round depending on the outcome of tonight’s matchup between IWU and
top-seeded Spring Arbor.
