Huntington, Ind. - The Mid-Central Conference (MCC) announced its post-season awards for the 2011-12 women's soccer season and freshman Erin Barclay (Spring Arbor, Michigan, Western H.S.) was a First Team All-Conference selection.

Having played defense throughout much of her prep career, Barclay quickly transitioned to the other end of the field for the Foresters where she tallied five goals and two assists for 12 points. After several key injuries midseason, Barclay stepped up to the challenge to lead HU offensively, scoring four goals in the final nine games. She finished the season as Huntington’s third leading goal scorer.

“Erin did some really great things for us this year,” said Coach Burgher. “She was our leading goal scorer in conference play and in our four conference wins she had three game-winning goals. She was arguably our most dangerous player during that time.”

“This is a huge award for Erin and I know she will use this as motivation to continue to improve as a player. She has the potential to make this the least impressive of her four years at Huntington; she is going to be a very important and dangerous piece of our team for the next three years.”

The Foresters wrapped up the season having tied the school record for most wins in a season with 10, eight of which were shutouts. HU also received votes in the national rankings for the first time in program history. They finished with an overall record of 10-6-3.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 53 NAIA All-America honors and 187 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations. U.S.News & World Report ranks Huntington among the best colleges in the Midwest.
