LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Amid a tough field that included six top 20 teams and four top 10 teams from last year’s final national rankings, the Forester women’s bowling team placed seventh out of 16 teams at the Boilermaker Classic at Mike Aulby’s Arrowhead Bowl in Lafayette, Indiana, over the weekend.

Leading the way was Casandra Griffith who averaged a 182.2 in Saturday’s five regular team games to finish 15th individually out of 172 bowlers. Ayla Yeiter (182.2 average) and Emily O’Leary (179.6 average) also finished in the top 25 by placing 22nd and 25th respectively.

Tiffany Walther averaged 164 for four games and Eleni Newsome 146 for two games. On Saturday HU rolled team games of 834-825-892-905-884 for a 4340 total to head into Sunday’s Baker games in seventh.

On Sunday, Huntington maintained their seventh place standing by rolling a 2787 (150-177-164-231-158-166-126-192-201-198-142-191-125-170-204-192) for a two day total of 7127.

Coach Bischoff was excited about the Foresters’ improvement this weekend. “Spare shooting was better and Casandra, Ayla and Emily bowled very well.

“Griffith was the consistent factor throughout the weekend. Misamore also bowled well considering she is wearing a cast on her left hand and arm until Thanksgiving because of a broken bone in her left hand which effects her throwing right handed. I was also happy to see Tiffany step up with some good games and great shots at key times”.

HU finished behind tournament champion Lindenwood (7991), Robert Morris(7667), Newman (7563), McKendree (7434), Victory (7272) and Davenport (7248). Finishing behind the Foresters were Bellarmine, Calumet, Clarke, Lindenwood Belleville, University of Northern Ohio, Saint Catherine, Alma College, IU-Bloomington and Aquinas College.

According to the final regular season poll on Collegbowling.com Lindenwood was ranked third last year followed by Robert Morris (4th), McKendree (6th), Newman (8th), Davenport (13th) and Calumet (20th).

The Foresters are back in action on November 10-11 when they travel to Capri Lanes in Kettering, Ohio, for the Roto Grip Raider Classic sponsored by Wright State University.
