INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The HU women’s bowling team wrapped up its inaugural season with a fine showing at the 2013 NAIA Invitational at Woodland Bowl in Indianapolis on March 22-23.
After 20 qualifying Baker games on Friday morning, the Foresters spent Friday afternoon and Saturday participating in the double elimination, best of five Baker matches, portion of the invite.
Against Cumberland University (Tenn.) on Friday, Coach Bischoff’s squad made quick work of the Bulldogs, sweeping CU in three straight matches, 188-138, 195-166, 209-139.
On Saturday, HU had its hands full with last year’s national runner-up, Midland University (Neb.). Huntington bowled some of its best matches but came up short against the 4th-ranked Warriors, 202-191-202, 190-202, 208-204, 169-247.
The Foresters, behind the play of Ayla Yeiter, bounced back to hand Missouri Baptist University a 3-0 loss, 160-130, 170-160, 170-151, before dropping a 3-2 decision to No. 28 Mount Mercy University (Iowa). After falling behind by two games to the Mustangs, HU stormed back to take the next two forcing a fifth and final game where they came up ten pins short, 114-181, 149-171, 160-157, 208-202, 161-171.
