HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Mid-Central Conference (MCC) announced its post-season awards for the 2011-12 basketball season and three Huntington University Foresters were among the list of honorees.
For the second time in as many years, senior forward Kelsey Green (Van Buren, Ind., Eastbrook HS) was named First Team All-Conference. She is currently averaging 11.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per outing. In addition to holding the top spot in the MCC for total rebounds/game (9.64) and defensive rebounds/game (6.75), she is currently ranked 12th and 11th respectively in these two categories in NAIA Division II. Green also leads the conference in double doubles with 10. For her career, Green has accumulated 1,028 points and 823 rebounds.
Junior point guard Lauren Meese (Marion, Ind., Oak Hill HS) earned Second Team All-Conference honors. The former MCC Freshman of the Year does a little bit of everything for the Foresters by averaging a team-best 3.5 assists (4th in the MCC) and 2.6 steals (2nd in the MCC) to go along with 8.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per night. She also ranks 5th in the conference in assist/turnover ratio (1.54).
Freshman forward Liesl Davenport (Andrews, Ind., Huntington North HS) was named MCC Freshman of the Year. Davenport stepped into a starting role from day one and is currently averaging 8.1 points and 3.4 rebounds. She is shooting .454 (83-for-183) from the floor and scored a career best 20 points in the Foresters’ 57-54 win over Bryan College on December 31.
