Speed earns Forester Athlete of the Week honors

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of November 12-18, 2012. Women’s basketball junior Pazia Speed earned the honor for her outstanding efforts this past week.

Speed, a 5-7 junior guard, paced the Foresters to two upset wins last week against Concordia (Mich.), 76-66, on Tuesday and against Campbellsville (Ky.), 72-66, on Saturday.

Against the 7th-ranked Cardinals, the Portland, Indiana native topped all scorers with 22 points, dished out three assists and nabbed three steals in 25 minutes of play. Four days later, Speed posted equally impressive stats in HU’s victory over the NAIA Division I 13th-ranked Tigers. For the week, she averaged 22.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals, while shooting 69.2 percent (18-for-26) from the field. She was perfect from behind the arc (3-for-3) and knocked down all five of her free tosses.

The Foresters are back in action tomorrow when they travel to Indiana Tech for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
